--INTRODUCTION--

My name is Dr. William Herrick, and for the past 20 years I have been carefully studying the behaviors and lifestyles of an allegedly mythical Pokémon in Destra, known as the Leppicorn. Even after centuries of their existence, there has been little documented information on this Pokémon, leading most people nowadays to believe that it is either extinct or an absolute hoax.

After numerous wild encounters and frequent travels, I had researched and recorded their typical lives and examined intricate details, the likes of which very few have ever known. On rare occasions, the Leppicorn have even let me approach them to study them closer.

Finally returning from my endeavors, I present my findings to the world. What you are about to read is the most comprehensive collection of Leppicorn information known to the modern world.

--LEPPICORN ANATOMY--

The average Leppicorn has a height of approximately 3 1/2 ft, and usually weigh approximately 80 lbs.

Leppicorn bear a body type not different from other certain Pokémon, such as Lopunny or Lucario. They stand upright on their hind legs, much like a human, though their hind feet are digitigrade. Their front paws look like hands; they have opposable thumbs and an index finger, but their remaining two digits on each hand are fused together through prefect syndactyly. Their large hind feet have three toes each, with a single black pad at the sole. They have long ears, which always appear to droop behind their heads. They also wield a set of antlers on their heads; these are stronger than any of the bones in its body, and are typically very sharp.

Their fur is typically a combination of dark red, near-black, and wheat colors. The patterns appear as though the creature is wearing wheat-colored pants and a short-sleeved shirt, with a black waistcoat over them. The 'waistcoat' sports a pair of wheat-colored fur patches resembling buttons, adding to the appearance. their face is wheat-colored, but the rest of their head (with the exception of the antlers) is colored dark red, along with the hands, feet, and tail. Some of the fur grows longer in certain areas, such as around the top and bottom of the waistcoat, at the 'sleeves' of the shirt, and at the knees of the 'pants.' Most notable is the hair on its head; it is grown to a length that completely obscures its eyes.

(NOTE: A rare alternate coloration swaps the dark red, near-black and wheat colors to periwinkle, dark red, and white, respectively.)

Interestingly, Leppicorn dislike showing their eyes to anyone (oftentimes, this also includes fellow Leppicorn). This is further examined in the behaviors section. For their sakes, I have decided not to elaborate on the eyes themselves. This being said, it is difficult to tell how well they can actually see using their eyes, as there is some suspicion that they may use extrasensory means to examine their surroundings. There is still no confirmation.

There are visible differences in the male and female Leppicorn appearance. The horns of the male are longer, extending as far down as the shoulders in most cases; the horns of the female are much shorter, not even extending to the forehead area. Also, the 'waistcoat' fur of the female is much longer around the front and sides, looking almost like a dress at the front as it covers the legs; the male 'waistcoat' is shorter, showing more of the 'pants.'

Leppicorn are notorious for their incredible speed and high jumping; this is evident in the muscles in their legs. The muscles are highly developed, allowing them to react in an instant with speed and power. As a result, their kicks can be more dangerous than their infamous punches, able to topple a small tree with great force. The average running speed of a Leppicorn has been clocked in at approximately 90 mph; the average maximum jumping height is approximately 50 ft. More developed, experienced Leppicorn can exceed these averages by nearly double their respective amounts.

The rest of their body, while fairly strong, is still very light, built more for speed rather than fighting power. Their arms can hit hard in rapid succession, but they are not strong enough to move boulders or other heavy objects. Their skulls are as tough as their antlers, likened to thick concrete, and the combination of their heads, antlers, and muscular legs can result in a dangerous charge that can break through a brick wall. They rarely attack this way, using it only as a desperate last resort; the energy they exhaust when attacking this way, both in execution and ultimate impact, leaves them very weak and rarely able to keep fighting. They often just opt for traditional headbutting, often hurting their opponent more than themselves this way and using less energy to do so.

--LEPPICORN DIET & HABITAT--

Their typical diet is varied; they are omnivores, meaning that they're just as likely to eat meat as the would fruits or vegetables. Leppicorn in general appear to have a strong fondness for spicy food; interestingly, the spicier the food is, the more they like it. Their constitutions are definitely not immune to the intense spice, however; it burns their tongues just as much as it would a human's, and they'll often be desperate to find something to cool off. Some plucky trainers use the spicy food to coax Leppicorn and catch them while the poor creature attempts to find something cool.

This affinity for spicy food was a notable reason for the naming of Destra's rare "Demon Pepper," a vegetable so spicy that it's been rumored to originate from the depths of the underworld. As exaggerated as the claim may be, those that own a Demon Pepper will find it very easy to make a Leppicorn friend, using it as a bait to hold their interest. No wild Leppicorn will want to leave a battle so long as the promise of the spicy vegetable is ever present.

Leppicorn like to live in deep forest, surrounded by plenty of trees. They treat the forest as a large playground, freely enjoying their antics relatively undisturbed. They live above ground, and on rare occasions they will live amidst the trees. There is no stationary home for Leppicorn, as they consistently like to travel and explore.

--LEPPICORN ABILITIES--

Leppicorn have a fascinating mix of skills and abilities based around both its physical fighting prowess and deceptive psychic power. Because of which, they tend to utilize a unique fighting style.

The typical method of confronting an enemy for Leppicorn is to wait for the opponent to attack and attempt to evade as much as possible. This not only causes the opponent to exert energy futilely, but also allows the Leppicorn to ready an effective counterattack. It is also preferred over blocking, because as mentioned before its body is light and not built for power or endurance. Depending on its experience, the success rate of a Leppicorn's evasive maneuvers can reach from 60% up to an impressive 90%.

Due to their evasive skills, Leppicorn are primarily defensive when in battle. Rarely if ever does a Leppicorn initiate the attack, and when this occurs it is usually due to becoming agitated. Even in this case, it is usually a single sharp blow or two, rather than a raging rush of attacks, and it immediately prepares its defenses thereafter.

For most Leppicorn, its successful evasion is key when fighting, as it helps them learn the limits and abilities of their opponent. This is the trait of an ability known as the "Lucky Foot." Each time they evade an opponent's attack, their own accuracy is improved. This comes in handy especially when it is incorporated with their signature move, which will be discussed later in the section.

A slight majority of its physical attacks are in a variety of punches and kicks. Punches are quicker to perform for Leppicorn, and as a result they can quickly attack multiple times. Kicks, however, are generally stronger thanks to their powerful legs, and if skilled enough can attack in quick succession this way instead. However, their combination attacks are often relatively short, as they're never fully certain when the opponent could catch them off-guard and counter their attack.

When they crouch, they do so in a way that places both their hind feet flat on the ground, looking almost like sitting. This is most often followed by their famous high-flying leap; the muscles in their legs are spring-like, in which they can store power and force in them when compressed. Once they leap from the stance, all that power is exerted at once, and because of this they typically don't kick during a high jump. These powerful jumps are often used to either evade a powerful attack, ready a Bounce maneuver, or set up their infamous "Juggle Punch."

The "Juggle Punch" is a signature physical attack for Leppicorn. It is their hardest punch attack, and a lot of force is placed in the move. Essentially, the Leppicorn readies a high leap and attacks with an uppercut when doing so. The force of the jump is transferred through the punch, and its power typically stuns an opponent and sends them soaring into the air. After this, the Leppicorn prepares another move to immediately follow, whether it is another attack or a personal status boost. Sometimes the follow-up move is another Juggle Punch, sending the opponent flying in a daze once again. The move's main drawback is its accuracy, as half of the time it is prone to miss the opponent. However, if their "Lucky Foot" has raised their accuracy enough, there is a better chance of the attack connecting each time.

Meanwhile, Leppicorn also wield a range of psychic powers. Their extrasensory perception is a key tool in helping them evade an opponent, and is often used to boost its fighting skill, raising its awareness and enhancing its strength. However, they occasionally use these special powers to fight as well. Usually when they channel psychic power, their antlers will begin to glow a bright whitish hue; this is known to intimidate some opponents by itself, and when this occurs while headbutting, it seems to make the attack stronger.

Sometimes they use the powers to grab their opponent telekinetically and forcefully slamming them to the ground or other hard surface. This technique has often been seen following the Juggle Punch, usually exerting the same amount of force downward as upward, if not more so. This telekinetic hold itself is also sometimes used just to keep the opponent stationary in order to make them easier to hit.

Sometimes they gather the power within to summon an Aura Sphere. Interestingly, their Aura Sphere is seen in a blaring red hue, as opposed to the bluish hue of Lucario's version. It is unknown whether the move was learned by one through the other, or whether it is coincidence; Leppicorn summon and fire the Aura Sphere in a much different manner than Lucario, though the damage outcome is usually similar.

On rare occasions they form their energy into blades and attack this way. This maneuver, known as the Psycho Cut, seems to exemplify the Leppicorn's versatility in battle; Leppicorn appear to show a strange innate skill in fighting with a weapon, and it is still unclear why this is the case, as they aren't typically seen holding any weaponry in battle.

Also on rare occasions, they use their psychic power to levitate. More often than not, it is used to intimidate its foe, forming extra psychic power into the shape of demonic wings. Despite the added visuals, it cannot actually fly; furthermore, they are unable to Juggle Punch during this maneuver, which may suggest one of the reasons for the ability's lack of usage.

Interestingly, they also exhibit moves of a darker nature at times. Leppicorn have a knack of deceiving their opponents, and are also known to exact revenge when riled. They often enjoy taunting their opponent playfully, typically angering the foe enough to attack them. They sometimes like to hit unexpectedly, sucker punching their foe and at times kicking them when they're down. For certain Leppicorn, this is the preferred means of fighting (this is discussed later in the behavior section).

--LEPPICORN BEHAVIORS--

The behavior of Leppicorn can be somewhat varied, depending on their personal skills. After much research, a pattern has been discovered; typically, a Leppicorn's behavior is relative to its ratio of physical and extrasensory abilities. Interestingly, four different personality types have been identified, each relating primarily to this ratio; they will be referred to as the Tenacious, Reserved, Arrogant, and Demonic types. These personalities are shared by both genders.

Tenacious Leppicorn appear to be more developed in their physical abilities. They're more rambunctious when in battle, never staying still for very long. While this transfers to its evasive maneuvers predictably well, it also means they don't evade very long before striking back. They tend to be more aggressive and daring in a fight, though as a result they aren't as cautious and are more likely to get hurt by unexpected attacks. These Leppicorn are known to be very fun-loving, and like to stay active as much as possible. A Tenacious Leppicorn expects their Trainer to keep them on the move; otherwise, they often end up in a depressed state and tend to become either uncooperative or devious.

Reserved Leppicorn are usually more developed in their psychic skills. These Leppicorn are much calmer and appear less threatening. As such, they usually take more time defending and evading before attacking. In this case, many of their attacks are psychic power-based, and they are more prone to surprising their foes. But because they are more laid back in nature, their attention may not fully be on the battle, and this sometimes results in poor defense and evasion. Reserved Leppicorn appear to be the most ideal variety if they are to be considered as a household pet; their nonaggressive, friendly nature make them welcome companions.

Arrogant Leppicorn present a good balance of physical and psychic abilities, and make up a majority of the Leppicorn population. Their harmony of skills presents an ideal in battle, balancing natural fighting prowess and deceptive power. These Leppicorn often realize their ideal balance and appear cocky in battle, hence their personality label of "Arrogant." They are modest enough not to start fights, but they're confident enough to perform with virtual ease and flair. The trademark Leppicorn grin is usually exemplified in this personality type, and this alone tends to taunt opposing Pokémon. Trainers of an Arrogant Leppicorn have a relatively easy time of looking after them, and their battle skill is highly valued.

Certain Arrogant Leppicorn develop a more unfriendly behavior type through either unhappy past experiences or corrupted upbringing. This usually results in the Demonic Leppicorn personality. Ability-wise, they are as balanced as Arrogant Leppicorn; however, a lot of their skills are much darker, and they have the knack of causing trouble for people and Pokémon alike. These Leppicorn are often considered as pests, as they like to unceasingly play mean tricks on others and benefit from others' misfortunes. The "Demonic" term was coined from the correlation to fables considering the Leppicorn as such, describing their nature as this very type of behavior. Those that don't like to use the "Demonic" term often refer to it instead as the Vicious Leppicorn type.

All Leppicorn have a shared trait of curiosity. They always like to explore and investigate things that are unknown to them. Sometimes this curiosity can lead to mischief. In most cases, the mischief is playful and generally harmless; however, it can also prove to be dangerous if not looked after, especially among Demonic Leppicorn.

Leppicorn in general are seen as jovial creatures, taking little very seriously. Even in battle they appear to smile as though they're about to play a game. They have been seen dancing to music even in the wild, and often like to play with other Leppicorn (sometimes other Pokémon as well). They prefer to live their lives happy and free, and is said to be one of the reasons why they don't often confront humans in the wild.

Leppicorn are proud of their species, valuing their traits and lifestyle and passing it down to future generations. In a chance meeting, they give a Trainer a few attempts to fight and catch them before running away, likely never to be seen again. The average success rate of catching Leppicorn is very low; it is calculated that just using a normal Pokeball without damaging it first will work a mere 2% of the time. If a Trainer does successfully catch the Leppicorn, typically the Leppicorn consents to their capture and even applauds the Trainer for their skill. They become faithful and loyal to that Trainer from that day forward.

--LEPPICORN FAMILY--

There is a special family bond between Leppicorn that merits its own section. The behaviors of a Leppicorn couple are fascinating in an of itself, and those that have ever witnessed or owned a couple realize this major significance.

Leppicorn will mate only with other Leppicorn. It is unknown whether there are compatibility issues; however, Leppicorn show no interest or will in coupling with any other Pokémon. Even Ditto, a well-known shape-shifting Pokémon, is always unsuccessful in attracting a Leppicorn of either gender. Reasonable or otherwise, the Leppicorn's stance on coupling is quite admirable.

Just as intriguing, if not more so, is the strong bond between a Leppicorn couple. When two Leppicorn are compatible with one another, they are considered a couple for life. No other Leppicorn of either gender is able to come between a pair, as the couple is unshakably faithful to each other. If a Trainer owns a Leppicorn couple, it is NEVER advised to separate them. Giving one Leppicorn away to another trainer or forcing it to leave causes both Leppicorn to become heartbroken and spiteful, making them unwilling to fight or do anything. Even once reunited, the pair no longer respect their Trainer (original or otherwise) and typically disregard his/her orders in anger. Usually in these cases, the best option is to release them back into the wild.

Leppicorn couples in the wild are rarely if ever seen by humans, and typically live in a deep part of the forest where they are left undisturbed. Here, they raise their young (known as Bunshee, detailed in the next section) and help them become stronger and more confident. When the Bunshee become Leppicorn, they leave their parents to explore and potentially meet other Leppicorn; these budding Leppicorn are what most people see in the wild, and are the most prone to capture.

--BUNSHEE AND LEPPICORN--

Bunshee are the younger "child" form of Leppicorn. The average Bunshee is approximately 2 ft. in height and weighs approximately 35 lbs.

Their overall appearance strongly resembles their older evolution, but there are significant differences in appearance. The antlers are only small horns (smaller on females), and the black 'two-button waistcoat' appears as just a white 'shirt' (or 'dress' for the females) with a single black diamond on the front. The colors of the 'sleeves' and 'pants' are consequently black, the reverse of Leppicorn; the color tones of the fur in general are notably lighter. Finally, their hair isn't long enough to cover the eyes, which are a striking baby blue.

Bunshee, as mentioned earlier, are notable for their shy and scared nature. Typically, their response to danger is to either hide escape. They typically do not have the nerve yet to fight, and only have a limited set of psychic skills to fend off foes. They will use them to push opponents away, but not actually fight in most cases. Because of this, they cling to their parents or caretaker in order to build up confidence and nerve. They are never seen in the wild, and from what can be deduced, Bunshee are incapable of surviving the wild without their parents.

Trainers who are caring for a lonely Bunshee are expected to give it very close attention. They dislike being alone, but are very timid and easily scared; it takes a lot of time, patience, and affection to raise a Bunshee. Comfort and support are often necessary to help it calm down when in a frightened state. A good Trainer is able to help a lone Bunshee evolve through their care alone, and the resulting grown-up Leppicorn is usually more faithful and attached to the Trainer than a Leppicorn caught in the wild.

Intriguingly, while Leppicorn display a bolder and more daring personality than their younger form, one can still detect signs of bashfulness in the older evolution, especially amongst the Reserved behavior type. They are very untalkative, and often make their feelings known just by gesture or expression. Because of their quietness, there is no documented call; only their laughter has ever been heard out loud, either joyous or sinister. Some believe that this faint shy quality is another notable reason why they aren't often seen in the wild. Similarly, they also attribute this reason to the Leppicorn's unwillingness to show their eyes; strong theories suggest that this cover is actually used to hide some of their emotions, such as fear or sadness, so that they appear more intimidating. When they cry, they always attempt to turn their faces away from others and hide their tears.

--LEPPICORN AND LUCARIO--

The link of these two Pokémon is unarguably very strong, beyond their similar stature and Aura Sphere move knowledge. In Destra, the two Pokémon species have seemingly shared a rivalry between each other for as long as people can remember. This section attempts to describe the interactions seen between the two species.

This famed rivalry seems to begin when both species are still in their premature forms: Bunshee and Riolu. Riolu in Destra seem to take great pleasure in taunting and frightening Bunshee on a regular basis. The frightened, panicked reactions of the Bunshee amuse the Riolu, and this allows a consistent source of entertainment. Meanwhile the frightened Bunshee begin to remember the Riolu that consistently torment them, keeping the memories etched in the back of their mind.

After they grow up, both Pokémon experience a change in personality, and the end results present polar opposites. The Lucario becomes more focused and serious, while the Leppicorn is more playful and edgy. At this point, the roles are reversed, and now the Leppicorn begins to torture and torment the Lucario on a frequent basis. This frequently leads to fights that the Lucario seems to keep losing to, as the Leppicorn now know the Lucario well enough to get the upper hand. This conflict remains active for the rest of their lives, leaving the Lucario with strong feelings of worry and regret, and the Leppicorn with a fun 'playmate.'

While this sort of conflict is developed roughly 90% of the time, luckily it isn't how the relationship always goes. If the Riolu scares and torments a Bunshee to the point of crying, then the Riolu's guilt is immediately set on and it attempts to right its wrongs in order to stop the Bunshee's sadness. This situation has often resulted in a lasting friendship between the two even after their respective evolutions; in fact, their happy resolution has been shown to help them evolve quicker.

Interestingly, these sorts of conflicts seem to arise if the Riolu or Lucario originate from Destra. Those from other origins interact with Bunshee or Leppicorn much differently. There is initial curiosity between the Bunshee and Riolu at first meeting, but other than this there is usually no real initial animosity between the two. Similarly, Leppicorn tend not to bother Lucario after they grow either. They have the potential to become friends or enemies, but it is not so immediately set as the conflict started by Destra-born Riolu or Lucario. It is unknown why the relationship is so different in that region.

Keep in mind, of course, that Leppicorn typically torment the Lucario that teased them in the past. They tend not to bother other Lucario in the region if they didn't cause them trouble as well. That said, it's still possible for Leppicorn to sometimes pester a random Lucario for fun, but this can apply to most other Pokémon as well.

(No studies have yet been made of interactions between Riolu and Leppicorn, or Bunshee and Lucario.)

--LEPPICORN'S PRESENCE IN DESTRA--

Centuries ago, Destra was an undisturbed region populated only by native Pokémon. Because little was documented upon its discovery, it is unknown how well or how many Leppicorn lived before the massive immigration rush. Since the population and development of the region, fewer of the native Destra Pokémon have been seen in the wild, gradually replaced by various Pokémon of the other regions. Poor records fail to indicate whether certain Pokémon may have gone extinct during the development and change.

Accounts of Leppicorn in the past have labeled them as mostly myth, seeing as it was so elusive from humans that no strong proof of their existence could be provided. Stories of the Leppicorn's curious mischief and strange appearance slowly brought on the belief that they were actually imps or demons roaming the land, stalking them to either steal their souls or wear out their sanity. A lot of the stories exaggerated some of the Leppicorn's nature, and a few were complete fallacies, but it sparked a strong fear and awareness.

From what can be deduced, the new presence of humans at the time made the native Leppicorn very curious, and the sudden transformation of their living space frightened and angered them. As a result, they began to pester or sometimes even "haunt" humans with their presence, typically to amuse themselves and exact revenge. Little did they realize that the humans were not so eager to play along...

As tourism of the newly-built and thriving Destra started to increase, the stories of Leppicorn were spread, and stores in the region began selling merchandise relating to the infamous species. This assortment of paraphernalia--fur coats and fur hats, mounted antlers, and "Lucky Leppicorn Feet," for example--were often claimed to have been made from the pelts of the real creature. Unfortunately, half of the time this was true; humans became irate at the constant Leppicorn pestering and began to hunt them down with lethal force. Naturally, this is often believed to be another main reason why Leppicorn aren't typically seen in the wild nowadays.

As decades passed, the self-set myths of the Leppicorn began to fade, and civilization started to modernize. Realizing the damage that had since been caused, the people of Destra started to believe that the Leppicorn may have since become extinct. As a result, hunting in the region was no longer permitted, and a desperate search to locate any living Leppicorn began. They eventually located a small number of Leppicorn, and they initiated a protection program to keep them from harm, allowing them to multiply.

Since then, the population of Leppicorn in the region has grown, but they are still rare to find. Some of the captured members of the species have been shown off through the region for tourists, and the Leppicorn-related merchandise they sell now aren't quite as harmful to their numbers. Regardless, with some fact to their myths, the creature is still often feared and admired, and now that the protection program has since ended, avid Trainers have begun to seek ones to catch for their own possession and care.

--LEGEND OF "BLACK JACK"--

Leppicorn are, however, still considered pests in certain parts of the region. A number of Demonic Leppicorn have been seen on occasions, causing trouble for the citizens. Most of them are currently wanted for capture, hoping to remove them harmlessly from the picture so as to make live easier again. One of the "wanted" Leppicorn, however, has been since listed as wanted "dead or alive," and a large reward has been offered for either its capture or its extermination.

This particular Leppicorn has been referred to as "Black Jack," distinctive for his unique coloring. For many years, this old Leppicorn had caused a lot of problems for a lot of people, and his aggression and ruthlessness had since established him by the population as a Pokémon to be feared. Allegedly, he fought aggressively to remain free from human captivity, since his uniqueness made him an ideal catch. His success in fending off the humans slowly grew into enraged arrogance, as he would randomly fight trainers that weren't even trying to capture him and defeat them in a frightening show of power.

Strangely, through unknown circumstances, Black Jack lost one of his arms. Since this odd instance, he is said to have regressed to the personality of an Arrogant Leppicorn, only fighting those who find and challenge him. He covers the shoulder of the missing arm with a cloth patterned with marks, each mark said to be a Trainer he had since defeated in battle. Allegedly he owns a few cloths with full patterns; the one he currently wears is a new tally. No one has ever seen the shoulder he covers, and he is unwilling to let anyone see.

One of Black Jack's antlers was also broken off, and due to this a broken old sword was tied on the remaining stub to replace it. The sheath that accompanied the sword has been used as a weapon for self-defense, using it to prevent all attempts to capture him; even the most effective Pokéballs in the world end up broken after he counters the attempt. His swordsmanship has since enabled him to learn and utilize a unique move known as "Swordray" (or "Kenshakou" to some). This devastating attack channels his psychic power through the sheath, and he delivers a barrage of powerful hits with it, guaranteeing a knockout. This always follows his Juggle Punch, and is impossible to avoid.

It is unknown what his interactions with other Leppicorn are like, if any. Theories assume that the Leppicorn's unusual expertise of weapon-based fighting may have actually been Black Jack's wisdom being passed down to younger generations. Other theories suggest that younger Leppicorn actually fought Black Jack and admired his swordsmanship enough to practice it themselves. No concrete evidence has surfaced which supports either theory.

--CONCLUSION--

Leppicorn have had a rocky history with humans over the past century, and their notoriety is still felt in parts of their native region. But it cannot be denied that these Pokémon are some of the most fascinating creatures in the region. Their recognizable appearance, their often impressive and sometimes deceptive fighting style, and their admirable family bonds are what make them unique, and the world would feel incomplete if they were to ever disappear. Hopefully this study will make others sympathize with my beliefs and help keep them around for years to come.
Over a day and a half I jotted down as much information as I could possibly think of regarding my Fake Pokémon Leppicorn. I'm not sure if folks realize how much thought has been put into developing this creature's nature and local "legacy."

I attempted to answer as many questions as possible, without exceeding certain boundaries (including stepping outside the research notes and knowledge of the expert that allegedly wrote this).
