A day after making Pepper and Ataru into 8-Bit sprites, I decided to cheap out and make their ghostly relatives, Azuzu and Fuego (respectively), by borrowing from the other pair. Not much changed in terms of the Pepper/Azuzu transition. Fuego, however, needed some serious tweaking in terms of mane and facial fuzz.
Like the first, the limits I put on myself were a four-color palette in a canvas of 32 x 32 for both characters. It wasn't terribly hard to follow these dimensions for Azuzu, but Fuego's "wisp" needed to be pushed to the bottom side instead of directly under, since his fiery mane is so tall!
The hardest part, actually, was doing the eyes. Azuzu and Fuego have their whole eyes illuminated in yellow. After a lot of adjusting shapes and sizes, I came up with the eye you see here, and I'm happy with it now.
Heh. I had to swith things up a little when I made these two. It occured to me that their appearance should be easily notable in the dark, so I made their outlines brighter than their actual selves.
I think it looks pretty neat that way! I may end up trying that when I do the hand-drawn versions of them as well. :3
Oh, good! I'm glad I'm not the ONLY person who caught that! Yeah, a few too many colors for "8-bit" and all...unless you do that sneaky thing with bits and pieces like "they" did in their games. XD

It wasn't really a conscious project; again, I was bored.
